Pupil and Sports Premium

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is a grant schools receive to support children. The purpose of the grant is to:

· close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers

· support pupils who are looked after by the local authority

· support pupils who were previously looked after by the local authority

· support pupils with parents in the armed forces.

For 2022-2023 academic year, the Pupil Premium Strategy Statement also includes spending of the recovery premium funding. This additional funding is to support schools with education recovery following COVID-19 given the disproportionately high impact of COVID-19 on the education of disadvantaged pupils.

Schools receive money for each pupil who qualifies. The school chooses how to use the grant to best support each individual child. The aim is to improve pupils’ progress and attainment, including for children considered ’more able’, so that they can reach their full potential.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement provides an overview of our current strategy for improving the attainment of disadvantaged pupils, including how we intend to use the pupil premium (and recovery premium) funding and the outcomes achieved in the previous academic year.

PE and Sports Premium

All schools receive funds to improve the provision of Physical Education and sport in school.

The aim is to improve children’s:

  • access to sport
  • attitudes towards sport
  • general health and well-being

Our PE and Sport Premium action plans shows how we will:

  • encourage regular physical activity
  • raise the profile of PE and sport as a tool for school improvement
  • boost our confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport
