Welcome to all of you who are sending your children to Tollgate in September.

As you know, transition this year has been very different, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Whilst we know that nothing can replace the opportunity to look round the school and meet the staff face-to-face, we hope that the information we have provided will help the children and families feel welcome and will answer some of the questions you may have.

We will be adding information and resources to this section of the website in the coming weeks so please keep an eye out for additions.

We have also set up a separate email address for any particular queries or concerns you may have. We would much rather you email us than worry about something.

The email address is:

transition@tollgate-jun.co.uk

We are really looking forward to welcoming you and your child to Tollgate in September.

Every good wish,

Stephen Dennis

    Book fair
Good afternoon A reminder that the travelling book fair will visit Tollgate from Thursday 30th September until Thursday 7th October. Through the week your child will be given the opportunity to view the books on offer, during school time. They will then bring home a slip of paper with the name and price of the book that they have chosen for you to then (if you are happy to) send in payment, along with the slip, in a named envelope for them to purchase their choice. This is a slight change to previous years when parents/carers have been able to accompany the children to peruse the books, however due to the poor ventilation in the Hall (we are working at addressing this through the Local Authority), we cannot this year invite parents and families on this occasion. We look forward to the children viewing the books on offer! Kind regards Mrs Willgrass

    Flu immunisations
Dear Parents/Carers The Immunisation Service are coming into school 01/12/2021 to offer your child the Flu vaccination. Contained within this email are the following documents: A parent letter - with instructions on how to complete the online consent form, to either consent or refuse this course of vaccinations. Please note there is a cut of time and date for consent completion, which can be found in the letter. This also contains important information on the vaccines and frequently asked questions, to help you and your child reach an informed decision regarding consent. Links to publications from Public Health England for relevant school years - to be shared with your child. The online consent form is available for completion until 11am five working days before the session date above. If you have any difficulties completing this online form, please contact your local Immunisation team before the cut-off date, using the telephone number provided in the attached letter. If you miss the cut off time to complete the consent form, we will not be able to vaccinate your child in school on the day of the vaccination session. The consent form will reopen one working day after the session, enabling you to submit a form for your child to be offered the vaccination at a later date, within one of our catch up clinics. If your child is in Reception to Year 6 please read the following publication with your child: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/999276/PHE_protecting_your_child_against_flu_leaflet_information_for_parents.pdf Many Thanks Sent on behalf of the Vaccination Project Coordinator, Immunisation Service Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Email: sc-tr.fluvacc@nhs.net www.sussexcommunity.nhs.uk Follow us on Twitter: https:/twitter.com/#!/NHS_SCT Friend us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/sussexcommunitynhs Excellent care at the heart of the community

    Information
Message sent on behalf of LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) Good Afternoon, We have been alerted to a safeguarding concern regarding Hurstpierpoint Gymnastics Club which is not affiliated with the National Governing Body, British Gymnastics. The club’s website indicates they take children from schools within East Sussex. This is a reminder for parents of the importance to check that external sports clubs are affiliated with the National Governing Body before enrolling their children and that safeguarding information such as name and contact details of the Club Welfare Officer and links to safeguarding policies are displayed clearly on any website. Many thanks and take care, SLES Safeguarding Team Standards and Learning Effectiveness Service
